Remember, Remember the fifth of November
The gunpowder, treason and plot
I see no reason why gunpowder, treason
Should ever be forgot
Say what you want, without a doubt, V for Vendetta is THE BEST comic book film to ever hit the big screen. Forget the fact that it's written by one of comic's best writers, this film is incredibly well done and one of the better films of the decade.
But there's also a lot of history contained within this story line that most Americans will probably never understand because it doesn't concern America itself. It's always fascinating to learn of the struggles another country has to go through by way of fictional narrative. Alan Moore uses his amazing literary skills to not only captive readers, but also to teach. This isn't just some mindless action flick, (Yes James Cameron, I pointing fingers at you!) It's poetic and riveting and should be on EVERYONE'S reading list.
Vertigo has a knack for producing quality story lines, and this one might just be its best. Today is the 5th of November and I have the day off, happily spending it parked on my couch watching V for Vendetta. Please, you do the same. Otherwise Guy Fawks will have died in vain!
